U vrijeme pandemije koronavirusa kao i četvrte industrijske revolucije – Industrija 4.0, veliki izazov za preduzeća je da postignu i održe konkurentnost na tržištu. U ovom radu je objašnjen značaj primjene informacionih sistema (IS) na donošenje poslovnih odluka u preduzećima, u cilјu donošenja najbolјih rješenja kojima bi se pobolјšale poslovne performanse i konkurentnost preduzeća na tržištu. Rezultatima provedenog istraživanja je evidentno da informacioni sistemi i donošenje odluka utiču na performanse poslovanja u tranzicionom ekonomskom okruženju. Unutar preduzeća, informacioni sistemi koji djeluju kao poslovni informacioni sistemi (podsistemi nabavke, poslovnog planiranja, marketinga, razvoja) imaju važniju ulogu pri donošenju poslovnih odluka od sistema transakcione obrade podataka. Preduzeća, da bi preduhitrila izazove koje je pred njih postavila globalizacija tržišta, i ostvarila konkurentnost na tržištu moraju svakodnevno da posluju u skladu sa novim tehnologijama, te da im se strategije poslovanja baziraju na kvalitetu, produktivnosti i inovativnosti.
