Reports on global banks' investments in research and development of blockchain technology in the previous and current year are in support of the claim that blockchain technologies are the basis of the future development of the financial sector. Extremely fast data transfer and a decentralized database are sufficient conditions for this technology to become significant for banks, financial corporations and even the national economies. The forecasts say that the application is possible in all industries, but that the banking and insurance sector will undermine the biggest transformations. In the light of the development of new technologies, the BiH financial sector could recognize its own chance to improve the business of both banks and all other participants in the financial system, which will contribute growth and development of the national economy. Banks in BiH have been well capitalized and liquid in the last two years, this fact is giving them a good basis for further development and innovation
