Abstract

Economic shocks like the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic occur once in several generations. The effects of the coronavirus have caused a complete transformation of the World Economy. If there were any doubts about the necessity of digital transformation to business longevity, the coronavirus has removed them. Coronavirus is a reality check for companies that have been reluctant to accept digital transformation. On the other hand, companies that not only developed digital strategies, but also executed them before the pandemic, are now able to outperform their less-skilled competitors. Such companies today have more tools at their disposal to not only weather the storm, but to come out the other side stronger for it. The labor market, as one of the key markets that ensures the stability of the economy has undergone the biggest changes, starting from the mass introduction of „working from home“, to the millions of people who have lost their jobs. Although production has managed to maintain a satisfactory level, the assumption is that production will be moved from poor to rich countries. In the near future, robots will play a significant role in boosting productivity by increasing the quality of work. While it is true that robots and automation are taking away many types of jobs in the global economy, there has never been a better time for workers to get highly skilled and better paid jobs, as long as they themselves are skilled enough to fill those roles.
