Abstract

With the development of computer networks, especially the Internet, as well as the increasing use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the business of companies in various fields, a new form of business is beginning to be affirmed. This is how the digital economy becomes the term used to mark this new form of business. The digital economy is in constant growth and the assumptions are justified that the methods of classical economic business will increasingly move to electronic, online, so-called. digital form. In these conditions, trade, which belongs to the group of innovation-intensive sectors of the economy, functions as well. The subject of research in this paper is the development of trade in terms of digital economy. Modern commerce is increasingly done online, and for success in the electronic market, it is necessary to develop consumer awareness of the development of online commerce. There have been major changes in the way business is done, with e-commerce and the internet becoming part of everyday life, which is just the beginning of a new digital revolution, based on scientific and technological progress. Bearing in mind the research subject defined in this way, the aim of the paper is to analyze the achieved level of trade development in the conditions of digital economy, that is, the process of digitalization of trade. In this context, an analysis of digitalization of trade in the world and in the Republic of Serbia will be carried out. The expected results of this paper are to provide adequate information on the functioning of trade in terms of digital economy, which may be of benefit to those in the field. It is also expected that the paper will point out the way in which e-commerce is continuously improved by the use of modern information and communication technologies.
