Abstract

Daily interactive relations between the market and modern information and communication technologies bring fundamental changes and new business benefits. The current time of transition of countries leads companies to face a series of challenges when it comes to improving business and maintaining an important position in the turbulent international market. Information systems are powerful instruments for achieving business improvement in all segments of the company. In this paper, information systems are presented from the aspect of its basic principles, so further analysis of information systems takes place in the direction of its components and functions, roles within management, and up to support systems that have the potential to improve the business and market performance of the company. This work within the domain of research provides a systematic overview of the literature published in the leading bibliographic and cited databases. Research for the purposes of this paper was carried out in micro, small, medium and large enterprises in the Republic of Srpska, on a sample of 184 enterprises. The methods used during the research are descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The main goal of this research, based on the obtained influential relationships, is to establish a model for improving business results and market performance based on business information systems and effective business decision-making.
