Abstract

The main goal of the Republic of Serbian Electric Power Industry is sustainable development, ie. the principle of settlement of a present need for final products without prejudice to those same opportunities for the next generation. The base area of the Republic of Serbian, in terms of the development of electric power industry is reflected in the availability of natural resources, defined legal framework and existing infrastructure. The Republic of Serbian Electric Power Industry is well connected with the systems of neighboring countries, which allows the creation of business cooperation in terms of investment and placing products on foreign markets. The development of the energy sector ensures technological development, economic strengthening of enterprises as institutions, increase of investment investments and increase of competitiveness. Energy is one of the most investment-intensive branches of the economy, and the electric power industry within the energy sector. The development of the electric power industry is the basis of the overall development of the country. The importance of the electric power industry is also reflected in the direction of its development as a competitor in the European market. Electricity industry needs to be market-oriented and profitable, as only as such can be competitive on the open market, influential in the region and recognized as a reliable partner for domestic and international companies.
