Abstract
The intensive cooperation between the public and the private sector as a specific combination of investment by private entities and the public sector is primarily focused on large infrastructure projects. Although the complex corporate nature of joint ventures is to promote additional benefits for the economic growth and development of any social community, the divergence of interest and low ethical standards create a favorable environment for corrupt activities. Business ventures involving private sector capital are criticized, first and foremost, because of the lack of transparency in the processes of cooperation, where is, under the influence of political and personal motives, corruption manifested as a negative implication of the arrangement of public and private actors. Corrupt practices in many countries, including BiH, have led to a state of social defetism that perceives corruption as expected and normal, and as such is a serious problem that endangers economic and social activities, and its presence in PPP projects insinuates the potential risk for optimal implementation and realization of this type of projects. In view of the above, the escalation of corruption in the BiH market, the susceptibility of public-private cooperation to a widespread corrupt trend, and the assumptions for reducing the existing level of corruption or to resist the challenge of corruptive activities in PPP projects, are the focus of research in this article.
