Abstract

In the current economic climate, when orders decline and stocks are becoming bigger, producers are expected to be more agile and manoeuvrable, especially in managing oscilations in demand, to generate profits. All this forces manufacturers to adopt „lean principles“. To improve the return on assets, the manufacturer must generate more revenue with the same or fewer resources and lower costs. The essential factors of flexible lean structure are employees, production equipment, process control and maintenance processes, which must be supported by appropriate IT solutions. The crucial element of flexible lean organization are right strategies to respond to the current situation. The basic strategies for this are: the reduction of the necessary resources for the existing volume of business and increase the volume of business for the existing resources.
